My Lucky Day or: How I Saved a Buck

It's Thursday. The weather is sloppy today. The sky is grey, it's slightly raining, the wind is breezy. I wore a white long sleeved short today alongside with my worn out light blue jeans. I didn't think much about what to wear today to school. I just opened my closet and picked out a white shirt by instinct. In the end it looked good with my 2 month old black died hair. It matched. It had a contrast. I looked outside while I was sitting at my computer early morning, all dressed up, ready to go, just waiting for the right time to go to the bus stop. I looked outside and it rained. I briefly thought to myself “how am I going to avoid the rain while I walk to the bus stop which is so far away?” Thankfully, the rain stopped. I was relieved. I had less than 15 minutes to get to the bus stop. I had to fastwalk. I got there on time and I still had 5 minutes left to wait. In the end I waited for 10. The bus driver was late. 11:35am is the regular time. I got on the bus and paid a fee of one dollar. As the bus was approaching the bus station, I realized that I had forgotten to buy the all day bus pass that I regularly get on Thursdays when I get on the first bus. I knew it was too late now. It's a fee of $2.15 for the all day bus pass and I had to make 4 trips. To and Back: which without the bus pass would cost me a total of $4. See, at the bus station I make a transfer to get on another bus which stops at the community college that I attend, NOVA, and each time you ride the bus you are obliged to pay a fee of one dollar. It was too late. At the bus station I got on the second bus and paid $1.00.

My class was over at 2:02pm and the next bus that was going from the college area to the main bus station was at 2:44. I went back to the building and assorted my new listings queue on NetFlix.

2:44pm - I wait.

2:56pm - I board.

I pay my third dollar, at which time if I had not forgotten to buy the all day bus pass - I would not have to.

Inside the bus, I go all the way to the back and sit on the left side of the bus on the second seat from the window.

The ride takes 12 minutes.

Everybody gets off the bus except me and the guy who was sitting by the window, I do not know why. I had my reason, I stood up and adjusted my handbag. I looked down the floor by the seat I was sitting on during the whole ride. I look at a piece of a small folded paper, it's light green. I realize it's a bus pass. I focus more on the date and the date reads in red: "Thursday 13 OCT. 2005"

I do not think nor hesistate. I grab the bus pass and get out of the bus. Right in front of the bus I got out of, was the bus for my final route. Dale City.

I get on the bus and unfold the piece of paper so it clearly shows the date. I show it to the bus driver and walk to the middle of the bus and take a seat by the left side of the bus, right by the window, and I smile. I saved one dollar.

lucky shit man!!!
