the d.c. trip
ha! that was uber awesometastically fun today!
i was woken up by a call at around 10:40am by my cousin sasha from Ukraine today! we spoke for about 5 mins, and then I played GTA san andreas for about 20 mins, but felt too tired to continue so I went back to sleep - which did not really last long as I got up and put on my clothes and turned on the computer. Listened to music, burned a cd for the trip..bunch of coldplay b-sides and live stuff/white stripes.
around 12 o'clock hassan comes over and we go over jeff's house, we pick him up, get gas and go on to DC! woohoo, while listening to the 2004 hip hop comilation cd i made of all the old skool rap.
we arrived at around 1pm, and went to the freer art museum, we didn't spend a lot of time there, we looked at a biblical exhibit, and looked at some statues and stuff, unfortunately there were no greek nor roman art that we are currently going over in our art appreciation class. so, we go out of the museum, but we're still not finished. we decide to go to the museum of african art. but before that - we decided to eat some of that great persian rice w/ chicken that hassan's mom had made for us. the fun part was the fact that we ate outside of the museum, right across our car as all people walked by, but we didn't care. great experience there. so as we finish our food, we go over to the museum, and spend some time there, didn't find a lot of things we were looking for and left. after that we go out of the museum and walk over south...through this interesting street that was elevated, it crosses a highway that goes eastbound, there is a fountain at the end of this road and it overlooks Alexandria, and it's a nice sight as you can see all the planes touching down and taking off, you can also hear this enormous roar of the jet engines as planes take off.
if you look down to the potomac river, there's this plethora of seafood restaurants right by the shores of it, we decided to make our way down there. i mentioned how it reminded me of a place somewhere on the north east US, like martha's vineyard, and all those other places.
we spoke for a little while down by the rail that overlooked potomac, such as about how we like to travel on airplanes, and the overall excitement. jeff revealed how he had never been on a commercial airline before. and hassan mentioned how from 2001-2004 he traveled almost 4 times a week all over US. then he mentioned this girl he once met on an airplane and had a nice chat w/ her.
we made our way back to the car and drove closer to the heart of dc, the white house.
took us a while to find a parking spot, but we did. i said how i had never been to
this memorial
so, we make our way towards it!

there i took a few pics and we circled the memorial once, we found out all the tickets had been sold for today so we did not get a chance to go up to the roof of it.
i suggested we track to lincoln memorial - everyone agreed, so we went. on the way we walked through the newly opened world war II memorial that was at the end of the lake that extends its way from lincoln memorial. took a few nice shots there, and we walked towards the memorial.

we spent a few minutes inside the memorial (second time now for me) and walked back, as it was getting dark we felt that was it for today.

so, on the way back - we listen to coldplay's b-sides and live stuff as this beautiful sun is setting down and vibrant orange red colors appear in the sky!
it was such a relaxing moment driving back home. i felt like all my worries disintegrated into molecules. jeff was. out. poor fella had a long day tagging along with us, so it is no wonder why sleep took over his mind.
all i can say is that, this is why staying at home is just a waste of time if you have nothing else to do. my belief is that we need to be outside and not inside. if every friend is up for a trip to somewhere? i absolutely don't deny that i will go. we now agreed that we are going to be going places as a getaway from our daily mundane lives - which i think everybody needs to do once in a while IF and WHEN they have FREE time.

Your blog was definately more detailed than account of today's events. The pictures came out very well online. All and all, I enjoyed this weekend. Great way to start the new week. Thanks Igor. Surprised you didn't mention Ellie but then again she wasn't there. So incredible blog this time around. Peace.
